Walletproof

Description: Walletproof is a quick and easy tool to use tool that enables you to track your spending, and set monthly budgets for yourself
URL: walletproof.com
Role: Joint owner and developer, with Geir Freysson
Comment: Walletproof is written in Ruby on Rails and allows users to track spending and set budgets. The site also allows users to recommend ‘good deals’ to each other - whether these bargains are on or off line.

HPC @ Reading

Description: High Performance Computing at the ACET Centre, University of Reading

Role: Technical lead and main developer
Comment: This site combines PHP, LaTeX, and scripting to provide an easy to administer site to detail the high performance computing resources that are run by the Centre for Advanced Computing and Emerging Technologies at the University of Reading. The site design pulls together the important elements from the standard University of Reading branding.

Ayourta

Description: A social network for medical practitioners
URL: This site is in limited beta at this time
Role: Developer (December 2007 and January 2008)
Comment: This is a site built using Ruby on Rails. It will give UK medical practitioners a social network to communicate within. Simon wrote the news story handling system, which allows users to keep track of and read various medical journals and news sources.

Description: A web tool to keep track of computers
URL: There is no public version of this site
Role: Technical lead, main developer, and server admin
Comment: This is a simple site built using Ruby on Rails. It allow the ACET Centre to keep track of the computers, and extras, the centre owns. The site was built to give the centre and effective way of keep a track of the support and maintenance given.

MCM2007

Description: Website for the sixth IMACS seminar on Monte Carlo Methods

Role: Site developer, server admin, and graphic designer
Comment: This site was originally a Ruby on Rails site, which included a combined registration and submission system for the conference. After the conference the site was changed to be a static html archive of the main information.

FictionAlley

Description: Harry Potter fanfiction, discussion, fanart site

Role: Site founder and FAWC board member (2004-2005)
Comment: FictionAlley, founded in the summer of 2001, is operated by FAWC, a Minnesota nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3). FictionAlley, is run entirely by volunteers and, was founded to provide a home for Harry Potter fans on the internet and grew beyond all the founders expectations. The site was nominated for a WEBBY Award in 2004 and a Prix Ars Electronica award in 2005.

Owls Count

Description: Simon’s personal website

Role: Site developer
Comment: The main part of the site is based on WordPress. The theme is a self-made custom design. The owls-count site is also home to Simon’s orienteering and training log, which is custom coded, in PHP and MySQL, to give the flexibility Simon requires.
