Basingstoke parkrun
A while back I went to the inaugural North Hampshire Time Trial. Since then the series has been rebranded and the event is now the Basingstoke parkrun, but this was the first Saturday where I had managed to get back again.
I started fairly well – managing to keep at a reasonable pace, but without going off to fast. Each time I felt that I was slowing down I started the inner monologue with instructions to speed up a bit and the group of others running at a similar pace certainly helped me to maintain my pace. Photo of me running.
Sadly I did not PB. In fact I managed a personal worst, though only by a few seconds. My 5k times have been 20:48, 20:50, and 20:55, which is all nice and consistent.
I was not feeling too good on finishing so I did not stay around for the social side of the event. On the way back I picked up a coffee and muffin – once I had consumed these I felt a lot better – suggesting that I had been hungry on finishing.
