Berkshire Fetcheveryone Mile
On Saturday afternoon I went along to the Berkshire Fetch Everyone Mile. This is an event organised through the Fetch Everyone website and gives an opportunity for people to meet up, have a run, eat some cake, and talk about running. My aim was to take at least one second off my PB, though I had some thoughts that I might manage a 5:4x time.
I lined up closer to the inside of the track than normal, as several of the faster people were not racing. This meant that getting a clear pacing indication was going to be more difficult than normal. I started ok and quickly settled into a reasonable pace. The first lap passed in 88s and the second in 90s. By this time I was feeling it a bit, but kept the pace and the third lap went through in 90s.
As I started the final lap the guy who had been on my shoulder charged past and started to go into the distance. I sped up a bit, but I allowed him to get away and never managed to catch him. However, the faster pace meant I pulled out a 80s last lap, giving me a 5:48 time. Six seconds off the PB.
