Rotary Easter Quarter Marathon
Yesterday I ran a quarter marathon – which is about 500m longer than a 10k. It was a good day to be out running.
The first part of this race is over two miles along the seafront, starting at Boscombe pier. These two miles seem to go on for ever, with the sea on the right, the beach huts on the left and the distant headland staying distant. I set off far too fast – allowing myself to be pulled along too fast by the nice running and it being flat.
The course then goes up onto the roads above and through the houses to come back along. This proved to be quite tough, as I was feeling the early fast pace. I managed to keep running, but not as fast as I would have liked. The final part of the course was a steep descent back down, before finishing on the promenade.
