Woodley 10k

It seems to be 10k season at the moment and, maybe, I will run this distance well at some point. Certainly Sunday was not a well paced effort and slower than I wanted to go.

When I woke up it was nice and sunny, but the clouds quickly came over and it started tipping it down. We arrived at the race area and sat in the car for a while. Eventually we decided we would have to brave the rain and went across into the hall. We hid inside for a while and, by luck, the rain stopped shortly before we were to go outside to warm up. It was still, however, windy.

The start of the race was chaotic. Far too wide a start line being quickly funnelled smaller and into a tight corner. I sped up to avoid the trouble and went through the first km far too fast and slowed down too much for the second km. My split times for the race were:
3:55 – 4:50 – 4:33 – 4:38 – 4:39 – 4:31 – 4:27 – 5:11 – 4:15 – 4:26
Overall race time of 45:23, about 35 seconds outside a PB.

In better news I did out sprint R at the finish! :)
